Community Learning Center

Nine years ago, the residents of South San Francisco’s Old Town had very specific ideas about the kinds of services they wanted to see in their neighborhood. The members of this primarily Latino area asked for English and computer classes and homework assistance to help them succeed in the community. The City responded by creating the Community Learning Center. serving children and adults.

What began as a dream has grown into an important and valued community resource. The Community Learning Center’s unique approach and accomplishments have been recognized with top awards by the South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, KQED, San Mateo County Reading Association and the San Mateo County Children’s Initiative.
