South San Francisco unified school district

OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE!

schoolsThe South San Francisco Unified School District is proud of the partnerships that it has with the City of South San Francisco, the Chamber of Commerce, the South San Francisco Foundation for Youth, and the many businesses and organizations, big and small, that make up our community. Community support for all our schools is of utmost importance to our district and the children it serves.

The School District has approximately 9,200 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. The District includes nine elementary, three middle, and two comprehensive high schools as well as a continuation school. The district offers child care services at all of its elementary schools and also offers a child development program at the Children’s Center, and an adult education program at its main Southwood campus and satellite sites. During the summer months, in addition to the summer program for our secondary (Grades 6-12) students, a pre-Kindergarten program is offered that focuses on assisting those children who will be entering Kindergarten to become familiar with school and teacher expectations.

The School District is facing extensive unforeseen challenges for the coming 2008-2009 school year in light of the Governor’s proposed state budget. My staff and I are working diligently to do whatever we can to keep the budget obstacles we must face as far away from the classroom as possible. This task will not be easy, but with the help and support of our entire community, I am confident we will find positive ways to move forward through this difficult time.

I am very proud of what is being done by our employees throughout the District to ensure that our community’s children receive an excellent education. Our partners and our wonderful PTAs have in no small measure contributed to our success. Thank you to each and every individual, business, and organization for your tremendous assistance. Your support is invaluable!
