The Annual Higher Education Scholarship Luncheon held on 
Executive Director's Message May 2013
April 18th was a truly rewarding event!
Seventeen very talented students received a $1000 scholarship
and two exceptional students received scholarships in
the amount of $2500 each; The Michel Wyman Memorial
Scholarship from First National Bank and the Dennis H Rosaia
Memorial Scholarship from the SSF Rotary Club.

The Golden Gate Produce Terminal who donated 5 Scholarships of $1000 each.
The Terminal Dealers Association, SSF Chamber Ambassador Committee, SSF
Asian Alliance, SSF Scavenger Co., Kaiser Permanente, Basque Cultural Center,
SSF Community Outreach Program, SSF Kiwanis Club, Onyx Pharmaceuticals,
R & A Janitorial Services, Soroptimist Int’l No. SMC, SSF Women’s Club.
On April 8, the Chamber’s Board of Directors held their annual board retreat to set
goals, priorities and objectives to be achieved in the coming year.
May is shaping up to be a busy month; starting with Cinco de Mayo/ Annual Back
to School Backpack Program on May 8 to help the SSF Community Outreach Program
collect school supplies and backpacks for the elementary schools in our
community.
A “MUST” attend event is our State of the City Address, which will be held at the
SSF Conference Center on May 16th. Mayor Pedro Gonzalez will be giving us an
update on our City. Please reserve early.
On May 23rd the Focus Hotel on Mitchell Avenue will host a mixer to showcase
their new and improved establishment.
While we are all busy with a variety of commitments, being an active participant
in our chamber and chamber events will enable you to take advantage of all the
chamber has to offer to increase your business and gain exposure. I look forward
to seeing you all at future events!
